'songbook #1: oracle, too weird'/luke vs. everest/grupa pubeski

i guess last time i wrote about 'songbook #1: oracle, too weird' was around a month and ten days ago. since then, besides making this allusion to a potential collaboration of titanic magnitude, i've mastered several new tracks (the rest which have been released can be streamed here):

messy recipe (under developed original):

'me and luke, winter '08'

i'd like to dedicate messy recipe to my good friend luke waldock (who can be heard talking at beginning of the track and contributed bass whilst being pictured above!) who is currently climbing everest. he told me when he gets to the highest point he's goin' he's gonna play:

i) the theme of (my favourite movie/cameron masterpiece) terminator 2: judgement day
ii) toto - africa
iii) and an unspecified excrement track

EXCREMENT ARE BEHIND YOU LUKE, GODSPEED!

'grupa pubeski'

also, check out justins' other band grupa pubeski, jeff plays darbuka aswell and josh plays bass, over here (they're fuckin' rad balkan folk):

daniil kharms - Blue Notebook #10

Blue Notebook #10

There was a red-haired man who had no eyes nor ears. He didn't have hair either, so he was called a redhead arbitrarily.

He couldn't talk because he had no mouth. He didn't have a nose either.

He didn't have arms or legs. He had no stomach, he had no back, no spine, and he didn't have any insides at all. There was nothing! So, we don't even know who we're talking about.

We'd better not talk about him anymore.

kenny 'fuckin'' powers

"i heard that bullshit thrown at me all my damn life.

you know what Kenny Powers says? fundamentals are the crutch of the talentless.

this one coach i had tried to put me on a weight training program, and i was all like, “you and your weights can go fuck off somewhere. i’m not lifting that shit. it's heavy! you tell me why i need strength training when i’m strong enough to throw a goddam 100 mph pitch. fuck that. see in life, when you have talent, all the other shit doesn’t matter. if we were on an island with no weights, and no running drills, who would be on top then? the guy with the talent. in a nutshell, you can train all you want. you can work on your catching, on your throwing, your running. hell, it might be enough to get you into the majors. but in order to be a standout, an all-star, a champion, you need more than hard work and dedication. You need something that you can’t work for. you need a blessing from god… almighty.
